Terms & Conditions
Effective date: June 6, 2026
Please read these terms carefully before applying to or participating in Remote Rising. They govern your application to and participation in the Program across all cohorts.
1Overview
By applying to and participating in Remote Rising (the "Program"), you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before submitting your application. These terms are issued by Remote Rising, a program of Africa Rising, LLC ("Africa Rising," "Remote Rising," "we," "us," or "our"). These terms apply to all cohorts of the Program.
2Eligibility
You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to apply to or participate in the Program. By applying, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3Educational Purpose and No Guarantee
Remote Rising is an educational program. It teaches strategies, skills, and methods for navigating the remote job market. It is not a recruitment, staffing, or job placement service, and participation in the Program is not an application for employment with Africa Rising or any third party.
We do not guarantee any particular outcome. Specifically, we do not guarantee that you will obtain a job, interview, offer, freelance work, income, or any other result. Outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including your own effort, background, and the job market. Any examples of past participant outcomes are not promises or guarantees of your results.
4Program Commitment
Remote Rising is a structured, live, cohort-based program. It is not a self-paced course. By enrolling, you acknowledge and commit to the following participation expectations:
- Attending your chosen weekly live sessions (for example, the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday sessions, or the Tuesday and Thursday sessions, depending on your cohort)
- Working through the weekly assignments and applied exercises
- Engaging in the Remote Rising community throughout the Program
- Reviewing the supplemental and asynchronous materials provided
- Maintaining respectful, professional conduct with all cohort members and facilitators
Consistent participation is required to get value from the Program. Recordings of live sessions are made available to enrolled participants, but they are not a substitute for live attendance. Repeated absence or disengagement may result in removal from the Program without a refund.
5Program Fee and Payment
Enrollment in the Program requires payment of the full program fee in advance. The applicable fee is the amount stated for your cohort at the time of your acceptance. Payment is processed through our third-party payment providers. Payment confirms your enrollment and reserves your seat in the cohort.
Except as expressly set out in Section 6 (Refunds), the program fee is non-refundable, including in cases of withdrawal, non-attendance, scheduling conflicts, removal for breach of these terms, or failure to meet participation expectations.
6Refunds
The program fee is non-refundable, with one limited exception: if you are unable to participate due to a documented medical or family emergency, you may request consideration for a refund or a transfer to a future cohort. Such requests are granted at the sole discretion of Africa Rising and may require reasonable supporting documentation. Outside of this exception, no refunds are provided.
7Missed Sessions and Transfers
If you miss a live session, recordings are made available to enrolled participants so you can review the material. Missed sessions are the responsibility of the participant, and we do not provide separate make-up sessions for individual absences.
If you are unable to continue with your cohort for a legitimate reason, you may request to transfer to a future cohort. Transfers are granted at our discretion and are subject to space being available in a later cohort.
8Application and Acceptance
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the Program. We reserve the right to:
- Accept, waitlist, or decline any applicant at our sole discretion
- Request additional information before making an admissions decision
- Place qualified applicants on a waitlist for a future cohort when a cohort is full
9Community Standards
All participants are expected to help maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional learning environment. Harassment, discrimination, abusive behavior, or disruptive conduct of any kind, as well as soliciting or poaching other participants, may result in immediate removal from the Program and the community without a refund. We reserve the right to enforce these community standards at our discretion.
10Intellectual Property
All Program materials, including live sessions, recordings, written and video content, prompt libraries, templates, databases, and other resources, are the intellectual property of Africa Rising (or its licensors). They are provided to you for your own personal, non-commercial use during your period of access. You may not copy, share, reproduce, resell, distribute, publish, or create derivative works from any Program materials, or provide access to anyone who is not an enrolled participant, without our prior written permission.
Any work you personally create during the Program, such as your own resume, cover letters, LinkedIn profile, portfolio, or video resume, belongs to you.
11Recordings and Media
Live sessions are recorded so that enrolled participants can review them. If you speak, turn on your camera, or share your work during a session, you may appear in these recordings. If you prefer not to appear, you may keep your camera and microphone off and refrain from sharing during the session.
From time to time, we may use Program content, including session clips, screenshots, or participant stories, for documentation or promotional purposes. We will not publicly attribute your name or likeness to promotional material without your consent. You may contact us at any time with questions or to make a request regarding your appearance in such materials.
12Privacy
We collect and process your personal information to administer the Program and communicate with you. Our handling of your personal information is described in the Remote Rising Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. We do not sell your personal information, and we share it only as needed to deliver the Program (for example, with payment, video, and community platforms) or as required by law.
13Community Access and Renewal
Enrolled participants receive access to the Remote Rising community for one (1) year, included with the program fee. After the first year, continued community access may require a renewal fee of forty-nine US dollars (USD 49) per year. If the renewal fee is not paid, your community access may be discontinued or your account archived. Course materials and recordings remain available for the access periods described to you at enrollment.
14Changes to the Program
We reserve the right to modify session schedules, facilitators, or Program content with reasonable notice. In the unlikely event that the Program is cancelled in its entirety before it begins, we will issue a full refund of the program fee for that cohort. This is the only circumstance in which the full program fee is refunded other than as described in Section 6.
15Limitation of Liability
The Program is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Program will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your expectations or produce any particular result.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Africa Rising and its owners, employees, contractors, and facilitators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of income, opportunity, or data, arising out of or relating to the Program or these terms. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Program or these terms will not exceed the total amount you paid to us for the Program.
16Governing Law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Program, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New Castle County, Delaware for the resolution of any such dispute.
17Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Your continued participation in the Program after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
