Community Lead Specialist
For a platform-fluent operator who can turn a founder's thinking into consistent presence across Substack and LinkedIn, with the taste to know which people, conversations, and partnerships are worth a founder's name.
Our client builds the data layer for the AI era of work.
Our client is an enterprise AI company that builds skills and labour-market intelligence for large organizations. Its platform helps companies understand the skills they have, how AI is reshaping the work itself, and where the labour market is heading, plugging directly into existing HR systems rather than being another standalone app. They work with a roster of well-known global enterprises.
The mission sits close to Africa Rising's own: our client's core pitch is helping enterprises redeploy and reskill people out of shrinking roles instead of laying them off. It's a fast-moving, credible company with real weight in the enterprise AI community.
This role supports one of our client's co-founders directly, on his personal thought leadership, not company marketing. He writes long-form essays himself around a single big idea: that the labour market is becoming computable. Your job is to run everything that happens around that writing.
Full client details, including the company name and the founder's platforms, are shared on the introductory call for shortlisted candidates.
He writes the ideas. You run the presence.
The founder produces the long-form essays and supplies the strategic thinking. This role owns the operational engine around it: the high-volume, judgment-heavy work that turns writing into audience and relationships. That means driving Substack Notes activity, building the right community, sourcing partnership and collaboration opportunities, and repurposing his ideas into a scheduled LinkedIn queue for a following of roughly 10,000.
This is not generic social media management. The subject matter is technical and policy-adjacent (AI, the future of work, labour economics), and the writing has to read as a genuine extension of his voice. A candidate who cannot grasp the material will produce noise. Equally, the relationship-building side rewards taste: knowing which people to follow, which conversations to enter, and which partnerships are worth chasing.
You will operate with real autonomy. The founder's constraint is his own time, so this role succeeds by removing decisions from his plate, not adding them. You bring solutions and a running queue, not a list of questions.
What you'll own.
-
Substack NotesDrive Notes growthPost, curate, and engage consistently on Substack Notes, sharing his and others' work, responding to comments, and keeping the daily rhythm that actually grows a Substack audience.
-
Community BuildingBuild the right audienceFollow and interact with the right people in the AI, future-of-work, and labour-market space. Grow a relevant, high-signal network rather than raw follower count.
-

Who we're looking for.
- Genuine Substack fluency, specifically Notes-based growth, how it actually works, and the daily habits behind it. Not just sending newsletters.
- Excellent written English. You can handle a technical, policy-adjacent subject (AI, the future of work, labour economics) without oversimplifying it or getting it wrong.
- LinkedIn content operator. Comfortable turning a founder's brain dump into a scheduled queue of posts, with supporting graphics, at a steady cadence.
- Taste and judgment. You can identify the right people, conversations, and partnerships on your own, and know which ones are worth pursuing.
- Self-directed. You operate well with minimal oversight in a fast-moving founder's world, and you bring solutions rather than problems.
- Voice fluency. You can write and curate as an extension of the founder, matching his tone rather than a generic brand voice.
Bonus credit.
- Short-form and video skills: clipping from long-form for YouTube, plus Instagram or TikTok. A stated longer-term want.
- Real interest or background in AI, the future of work, or labour economics.
- Experience supporting a founder's personal brand or executive thought leadership.
- Fluency with design tools (Canva, Figma, or similar) for fast, on-brand graphics.
- Comfort with scheduling and analytics tooling across Substack and LinkedIn.
